About the Role
The Manager, Health Innovation supports the strategic and operational delivery of the Health Innovation Pathway (HIP), a program designed to accelerate the adoption of new technologies to improve patient care. This role provides strategic leadership, oversees implementation and adoption planning, and manages multiple complex projects and the Health Technology Accelerator Fund.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance and leadership to the implementation of HIP's strategic priorities, design, and operational activities.
- Manage program-level activities for HIP, including corporate reporting, planning, Treasury Board reports, and procurements.
- Support implementation planning and adoption activities for new technologies and innovations.
- Lead the definition of key performance indicators and reporting frameworks.
- Oversee project management for applications and implementation projects.
- Monitor program performance, identify risks, and recommend operational improvements.
- Develop and maintain program documentation, including process maps and SOPs.
- Partner with other leaders and teams to enable technology adoption in the health care system.
- Consult with Ontario Health programs to ensure commitments are met and risks are managed.
- Collaborate with OH programs, regions, Ministry of Health, external partners, and other system partners.
- Facilitate stakeholder consultations to inform decision-making.
- Support relationship management with vendors, service providers, and strategic partners.
- Communicate and engage with senior stakeholders to ensure successful innovation routing and adoption.
- Supervise a team of professionals, providing coaching, performance management, and professional development.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on continuous improvement and innovation.
- Cultivate, manage, and develop a high-performing team.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations to support decision-making.
- Contribute to budget planning and resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Oversee an annual work plan and determine necessary resources for implementing new technologies.
- Identify operational and improvement opportunities by monitoring team performance.
- Provide full scope of leadership responsibilities to a team, including recruitment and career development.
Requirements
- Master's degree in a clinical health discipline, health policy, health sciences, health informatics, health administration or a related field of study.
- Minimum of 7 years related work experience in health system strategy, policy development and implementation, bridging evidence and practice, and/or knowledge translation.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience leading, developing, and supporting teams through projects, programs and/or direct people leadership.
- Thorough knowledge of Ontario’s Health System and experience working with a wide range of clinical and administrative stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing change initiatives and programs that improve outcomes, experience, or sustainability.
- Experience engaging with and dealing with stakeholders from a variety of perspectives.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including senior leadership, clinicians, scientists, staff, and external partners in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Senior level knowledge of key management practices for leadership – people, process, technology.
- Proven experience in leading meaningful change within area of expertise.
