About the Role
The Practice Manager provides management and administrative support to the practice, working closely with the Lead Physician and other providers. This role involves developing business strategies, formulating budgets, and overseeing daily operations, with a primary responsibility to plan, coordinate, direct, and supervise financial, operational, and personnel management within the policies of the Medical Group and Rochester Regional Health System. The position upholds patient rights, provides leadership, exhibits core competencies, delivers superior customer service, and communicates the mission and values of the system.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for daily management of physician practice site(s) utilizing available tools and/or reports to facilitate improvement and ensure compliance.
- Responsible for the financial operations of the practice, including reviewing monthly financial performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and developing plans to meet budget.
- Participates in annual budget development and is accountable for practice adherence to budget, ensuring compliance with fiscal standards.
- Participates in the recruitment, hiring, coaching, mentoring, and termination of non-physician staff in conjunction with Human Resources.
- Provides management, guidance, and training to staff in daily practice operations and performs duties of subordinate staff when necessary.
- Motivates staff and organizes day-to-day activity of the department, managing staffing and practice plans with providers to improve efficiency and cost-effective management.
- Maintains standardized workflows and best practices established by the Medical Group.
- Ensures the practice facility is maintained to Rochester Regional Health System standards, meeting compliance with applicable safety practices and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Supports Rochester Regional Health System’s vision and strategic plan, creating a culture of engagement to support improvement.
- Ensures compliance with applicable patient or employee safety practices mandated by regulatory agencies or the health system.
- Assures compliance and facilitates workflows to ensure the environment supports patient-centered care, including Patient Centered Medical Home, Population Health Management, Meaningful Use, Patient Complaints, and Quality Assurance measures.
- Assures accurate and timely input of all necessary data, including demographic information, coding charges, statistical information, and month-end data.
- Supervises all activities related to charge entry, edit corrections, patient registration, and over-the-counter transactions.
- Identifies problems and provides alternatives and/or resolutions after thorough analysis of relevant information.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred or an equivalent combination of education or work experience.
- 3 years relevant work experience within a practice setting preferred.
- 2 years administrative leadership experience or combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated communication and analytical skills required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in professional billing.
- Experience in financial management.
- Experience in personnel management.
- Experience in team building.
- Appropriate interpersonal skills.
- 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting required (effective 06/1/2025).
