About the Role

SOCAN is seeking a detail-oriented, results-focused, and proactive individual to join the Royalty Operations and Services teams. This role supports operational teams through research, data entry, and validation activities to maximize royalty distributions and ensure accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage SOCAN catalog of musical works and audio-visual cue sheets and related music publishing agreements.
  • Add new and/or update existing musical works and audio-visual cue sheets.
  • Research musical works or audio-visual cue sheets and associated shareholders.
  • Resolve conflicting claims on musical works or audio-visual cue sheets by coordinating with Membership for member feedback.
  • Review and update agreements that direct royalty collection.
  • Merge potential duplicate works into a single payable musical work.
  • Match music usage reports from radio, television, and streaming services to the SOCAN catalog.
  • Review possible match results and research musical works or audio-visual cue sheets to ensure valid matches to reported music use.
  • Execute matches of musical works or audio-visual cue sheets to music usage reported or claimed by members based on the Unidentified Performances List.
  • Resolve member queries and/or member-generated activities (domestic and international).
  • Research queries submitted by Membership on behalf of members, including catalog changes, member agreements, and potential missing royalties.
  • Provide updates to Membership on investigations for communication to members.
  • Pursue member-claimed music use with foreign societies.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Computer literacy required, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Excel.
  • Excellent research skills.
  • Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and shifting priorities.

Salary/Compensations

  • $45,000 - $50,000 per annum
