About the Role

GFT is seeking an experienced Area Leader, NYC Water with strong technical expertise to join our Water and Environmental Business Group. This role involves leading or supporting the conceptualization, design, and construction administration of water/wastewater infrastructure projects, emphasizing delivery quality and a customer-centric approach.

Responsibilities

  • Lead or support the conceptualization, design, and construction administration of water/wastewater infrastructure projects.
  • Participate in and lead project teams in the planning, designing, and administering construction of municipal and industrial water and wastewater infrastructure facilities.
  • Engage in client interactions, deliver presentations, and coordinate project activities.
  • Manage project assignments and tasks across multiple disciplines, including developing and implementing study and design standards, leading progress meetings, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, and tracking project schedules.
  • Coordinate work activities and communicate with municipalities and governmental regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee construction contract management and observation services.
  • Stay actively involved in the engineering industry, particularly within the water/wastewater sector.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 10-15 years of experience in the water/wastewater discipline, particularly as a water/wastewater engineer designing studies, plans, and specifications for water and/or wastewater infrastructure.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in New Jersey or New York.
  • Experience supporting NYC DEP projects required.
  • Progressive experience in the evaluation, design, permitting, and construction administration of water and wastewater treatment facilities, pumping stations, water storage and distribution facilities, and wastewater collection systems.

  • $140,000 - $220,000
