About the Role
GFT is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our Practice or CBG Team. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Mississauga or Toronto office. This is a part-time position working 24 hours a week. Working on the transportation team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspection, condition assessment, rehabilitation and structural design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls and transportation related facilities.
- Perform structural design calculations for concrete and steel structures.
- Develop structural drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
- Coordinate structural design with project requirements.
- Lead structural design for small scale projects.
- Design of concrete and steel members such as slabs, footings, columns and beams.
- Develop structural details.
- Review structural shop drawings.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with various disciplines.
- Attend seminars to broaden exposure and remain current on the industry.
- Assist with other duties assigned by Discipline Lead Engineers and/or Project Managers.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required.
- P.Eng license.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant full-time work experience.
- Hands on experience with structural analysis and design software.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
- Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
- Capable of field inspection activity such as climbing ladders, using man lifts.
- Strong understanding of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and MTO Structural Manual.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
