About the Role

This role involves supporting the Aviation Research team within MUFG's Global Aviation Finance Office (GAFO). The team delivers market expertise, asset and sector analyses, and thought leadership to support business operations and client discussions globally. The position is key to shaping and growing the business by researching aviation-related products and opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Support and develop Aviation Research activities.
  • Pro-actively seek out, explore, and research existing and new aviation-related opportunities.
  • Collect, analyze, and distribute data on the commercial aviation industry, including assets, markets, and values.
  • Provide internal stakeholders with expert opinions to aid decision-making for debt provision.
  • Contribute to externally communicating MUFG's expertise in the commercial aviation industry.
  • Research new aviation-related business opportunities to grow MUFG's lending platform.
  • Analyze dynamics driving commercial aviation asset liquidity and values.
  • Represent the Bank with clients, deliver conference presentations, and produce industry reports.
  • Evolve the Aviation Research function within the Bank.

Requirements

  • Significant relevant industry experience in aviation finance, appraisal, airline, lessor, or consultancy.
  • Extensive knowledge and demonstration of understanding aircraft value and appraisal methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience outside the normal commercial aviation platform to help evolve the business.
  • Knowledge of current aircraft and engines programs.
  • Understanding of aircraft lifecycle economics.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with online aviation intelligence platforms.
  • Presentation, interpersonal, and networking skills.
  • Problem-solving and market research skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize workload.
  • Excellent communication skills, including synthesizing complex data into clear strategic insights.
