About the Role
Manage a first-of-its-kind, intermodal transit service while gaining exposure to a fast-paced tech company. This role involves building the service from the ground up, encompassing entrepreneurship, business development, and operations management.
Responsibilities
- Manage the on-site daily operations of Via’s service around Chemung County.
- Prioritize operational issues as a real-time point of contact for drivers and dispatchers, providing creative solutions for scheduling a round-the-clock team.
- Manage and mentor the on-site team of dispatchers and shift managers.
- Act as the face of the operation, developing relationships with driver partners, customers, community leaders, and local organizations.
- Liaise closely with Via senior management and external partners.
- Develop clear metrics for the team and provide visibility into results against KPIs and priorities weekly.
- Prepare reports and analyze data to improve operational processes, ensure resource allocation, and maximize efficiency and customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, local, and company policies, procedures, and regulations on service operations.
- Lead, coach, and develop an engaged team of drivers, fostering a collaborative, cohesive, and energetic environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience as an operations manager.
- Independent self-starter, comfortable in fast-paced environments with a high level of responsibility.
- Savvy and tactful communicator with the ability to find the right tone in every situation.
- Desire to foster a culture committed to world-class customer service.
- Detail-oriented executor, action-oriented and thrives operating autonomously.
- Exceptional leader with extensive experience leading support teams.
- Flexible and adaptable, enjoys the challenge of rapid change and making things work on the fly.
- Proven track record of managing teams (3-5 years) and developing people.
- Effective at managing multiple tasks simultaneously, with the ability to delegate, prioritize, and take responsibility.
- Problem solver, always looking for creative solutions and not accepting the status quo.
- Experience working in transit is a plus.
- Successful completion of a drug test, criminal background check, and motor vehicle records check is mandatory.
