About the Role
The Cook prepares and serves food, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, according to the facility menu. This role ensures quality food service by adhering to federal, state, and local standards, as well as facility policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and serves food, including texture-modified and therapeutic diets, according to the facility menu.
- Ensures food preparation aligns with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
- Assists in ensuring proper receiving, storage, preparation, serving, sanitation, and cleaning procedures are followed.
- Maintains a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
- Assists dietary aides as necessary and directs other employees in the absence of the Dining Services Director.
- Reads, speaks, and understands English, follows directions, and completes tasks.
- Follows time schedules for meal preparation and serving.
- Works around food and cleaning products.
- Reads and accurately applies requirements of food tray cards.
- Maintains records and completes reports as required.
Requirements
- Must live in service area.
- Must be able to lift/carry a maximum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to push/pull a maximum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and walk for extended periods of time.
