About the Role
The Senior Staff Accountant leads key components of the monthly financial close, ensuring all general ledger transactions are recorded, reconciled, and reported accurately under US GAAP. This role serves as a go-to resource for less experienced accounting team members and requires a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced close cycle, excels at high-volume and complex journal entries, and possesses strong analytical skills to investigate and explain balance sheet and income statement fluctuations.
Responsibilities
- Own the day-to-day tasks related to GL coding, reconciliation, standard and non-standard journal entries.
- Perform and review general ledger account reconciliations for complex balance sheet accounts to ensure data integrity.
- Work with team members to ensure that all revenue and vendor invoices are correctly entered.
- Prepare monthly reports for review by leadership, reconciliations within our banking system, and posting in Finance and Operations D365.
- Serve as backup and coverage for AR/AP team members, including invoicing, payments, vendor requests, and funding requests.
- Assist with the preparation and coordination of annual financial and other audits.
- Assist in weekly and monthly financial reporting.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process, as needed.
- Maintain proper accounting methods, policies, and processes.
- Support finance team members with special projects and process improvements.
- Provide additional assistance in the department as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance.
- 6+ years of professional work experience in finance or accounting, with demonstrated ownership of the monthly close process.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, and Excel is a must.
- Strong internal and external communication skills.
- Must have strong attention to detail and the ability to complete multiple tasks at once.
- Team player who enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams.
