About the Role
Responsible for filling and dispensing medication orders, maintaining pharmacy standards, and serving as an information resource for medication therapy. This role involves coordinating drug therapies with medical staff and nursing, participating in the Antibiotic Stewardship Program, and providing pharmaceutical care to patients of all age groups. The position also includes leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Director.
Responsibilities
- Filling and dispensing medication orders
- Proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the Pharmacy
- Maintaining department standards
- Translating policies and procedures into daily operations
- Acting as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information
- Coordinating drug therapies with medical staff and nursing for quality and cost-effective patient care
- Participating in the hospital Antibiotic Stewardship Program
- Providing pharmaceutical care to patients of all relevant age groups
- Providing leadership in the absence of the Director as assigned
- Supervising Pharmacy Technicians
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree from a College/School of Pharmacy required
- Current, valid, and active license to practice as a Pharmacist in the state of California
- Current, valid, and active BLS Certification from the American Heart Association
- Ability to project a professional image
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements
- Strong organizational, prioritizing, and analytical skills
- Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant
- Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions
- Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace
