About the Role

Performs laboratory tests, including quality control, following established criteria. Responsible for routine and non-routine testing and reporting results, handling moderately difficult to complex tasks accurately and efficiently. Also performs clerical and computer-related activities with supervision based on experience.

Responsibilities

• Performs all tests relative to assigned section(s) following laboratory policies and procedures.
• Reviews and releases test results, determining specimen acceptability.
• Identifies and corrects problems affecting test performance or reporting, or notifies supervisor.
• Follows procedures for reporting STAT or critical results to caregivers.
• Documents QC failures and follows policies for test systems outside acceptable performance levels.
• Documents quality control activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
• Documents corrective actions for deviations from performance specifications.
• Ensures reagents/test kits have received dates, expiration dates, and opened dates.
• Follows all PPE, CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety guidelines.
• Knows the location and contents of the safety manual and the location/use of safety equipment.
• Assists with training of department employees as necessary.
• Maintains clinical competency and current professional knowledge.
• Maintains and models REACH Values (Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Compassion, Honor).
• Demonstrates regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related science.
• One (1) year of clinical laboratory experience preferred; New Grads considered.
