Responsibilities

• Execute the voice of Complex Pop Culture social on all platforms with excellent judgment and audience-sensitive framing.
• Create, curate, and manage all content published to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for Complex Pop Culture, focusing on streaming and creator culture.
• Lead community management, moderation, and DM management using a deep understanding of the Complex tone and voice.
• Surface and pitch viral, breaking, and social-friendly content to the news team.
• Develop creative assets in Photoshop and Premiere/CapCut.
• Ideate, source, and create original real-time content for Complex Pop and Internet Culture audiences, identifying memes and trends.
• Support all social goals (growth, traffic, views, and engagement) and provide vertical-specific tactics, strategic pivots, and direction.
• Track and share social and platform best practices with internal teams, providing best-in-class examples.
• Manage workflow of editorial social posts, coordinating with the branded social team when necessary.

Requirements

• 2-3 years of social media and editorial experience with a publisher or brand.
• Extensive knowledge of internet and pop culture, with a specific focus on film/TV, anime, Twitch/Kick streamers and creators, and video games.
• A deep understanding of the Complex Pop Culture content, voice, and tone.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & Premiere).
• Proficiency in mobile editing softwares, particularly CapCut.
• Experience with AI image generation.
• Positive, intuitive, proactive, and collaborative team player.
• Strong writing and communication skills, proofreading experience, and quick decision-making skills.
• Willingness to work nights and occasional holidays for coverage of live events.
• Robust knowledge of streetwear/fashion and its connection to pop culture, sports, and music.
• Deep understanding and fluency of all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube Shorts).
• Proven track record in driving audience and consumer action on social.
• Ability to stay up-to-date on competitive set activities.
