About the Role

Humber River Health is seeking a Student Nurse Extern to join their Critical Care program. This role provides direct patient support and basic care under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses, focusing on improving patient outcomes through technology and clinical expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct personal support to patients.
  • Provide basic care, including activities of daily living (bathing, toileting, feeding).
  • Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses.
  • Document activities of daily living (ADLs), intake and output, and relevant patient communication.
  • Immediately report any clinical concerns to the direct supervisor.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Mandatory compliance with HRH training: Privacy & Confidentiality, WHMIS, Fire & Safety, hand hygiene modules.
  • Ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision and ongoing mentoring.
