About the Role

The Mechanic A (HVAC) will report to the General Foreman and Management on the status of operation, repair and maintenance and preventive maintenance of campus equipment as assigned. The Mechanic A (HVAC) will be responsible for scheduling repairs and maintenance around occupancy of campus facilities with emphasis on safety and code compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general and specialized building repair maintenance and operation tasks including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, event setups, and snow removal.
  • Schedule repairs and maintenance around campus facility occupancy, prioritizing safety and code compliance.
  • Maintain inventory and source needs for tools and equipment.
  • Order and inventory materials.
  • Perform repair, maintenance, and operation of typical HVAC systems, including steam heat exchangers, hot water boilers and circulators, cooling towers, and DDC control systems.
  • Work unsupervised on assigned tasks.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of experience in the trade field.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and/or trade school certification.
  • Current HVAC refrigeration license.
  • Computer literate.
  • Valid NYS driver license.
  • Experienced in commercial/educational building maintenance communications processes including record keeping, inventory, sourcing, blueprint reading, and computer skills.
  • Proven ability to organize workflow and estimate work hours for assigned tasks.
