About the Role
As an AI Deployment Engineer, you will own the last mile of enterprise AI deployment for the Unum platform. This involves integrating Unum into complex customer environments, connecting it to existing systems, shaping workflows with users, and ensuring measurable adoption and impact. This role requires a blend of technical ownership, customer engagement, and product-focused problem-solving.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical outcome of Unum deployments end to end.
- Work directly with customers in their environments to make Unum usable, trusted, and valuable in production.
- Build integrations, templates, and deployment logic around actual customer systems, constraints, and users.
- Translate specific customer pain points into reusable product patterns.
- Build high-impact applications, connectors, agentic workflows, and tools.
- Work across prototype, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Earn trust, clarify success, and drive adoption by working directly with users and stakeholders.
- Design how AI agents surface findings, request feedback, trigger approvals, and escalate when they get stuck.
- Define what governed autonomy looks like in real enterprise workflows.
Requirements
- 2+ years of professional experience in software, product engineering, applied AI, or forward deployed engineering.
- Strong engineering fundamentals to build full-stack applications.
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience with TypeScript, cloud infrastructure, integrations, and Terraform.
- Experience building with LLM APIs and understanding how to turn model capabilities into useful workflows.
- Enjoy working close to users, understanding their real constraints, and turning ambiguous problems into working systems.
- Ability to understand why something matters, how it affects adoption, and when to challenge requests.
- Comfort with messy environments, unclear requirements, legacy systems, stakeholder complexity, and production constraints.
- Ability to make progress without needing a perfect brief.
- Take ownership, create structure where none exists, and care deeply about whether the solution actually works in the field.
