About the Role
Langan is seeking a Health and Safety Manager to join its collaborative team in California. This individual will serve a key function in reviewing Health and Safety (H&S) policies and procedures, developing and conducting H&S training programs, developing and reviewing H&S plans, performing job site safety inspections, managing incident / injures and near-miss reports, overseeing corporate training records, and provide consulting services to clients as needed. In this role, you will have the opportunity to promote health and safety both firm-wide and with our clientele by partnering cross-functionally to enforce and enhance Langan’s corporate health and safety program and client services.
Responsibilities
- Provide industry-leading environmental, health and safety consulting and solutions for clients
- Review federal, state and local safety regulations to determine applicability, identify potential compliance issues and provide compliance recommendations
- Prepare, review, and approve site-specific H&S documents to ensure compliance with applicable government requirements and company programs and policies
- Manage the company’s random drug and alcohol testing program
- Prepare, review, and implement health and safety training programs including: Hazardous Communications, Confined Space, Job Safety Analysis and HAZWOPER
- Assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of corporate H&S policies and procedures
- Participate and manage Langan's behavior-based safety program including reviewing observation data, promoting, and continually improving the program
- Manage submittal of reports of work-related incidents, injuries, near-misses and motor vehicle incidents
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of the plans, policies, and procedures and recommend changes to improve safe work behaviors and eliminate potential hazards
- Perform and manage jobsite safety inspections to identify and evaluate potential unsafe conditions and practices in the workplace
- Manage and maintain corporate training records in accordance with company standards
- Conduct investigations into work-related incidents, injuries, near-misses and motor vehicle incidents to determine root cause and recommend measures to be implemented to prevent reoccurrence
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, Safety Management, Environmental Science or relevant H&S field preferred
- Certification in HAZWOPER, Site Supervisor, or 10 Hour Construction Safety and Health preferred
- 10+ years of related H&S experience
- Experience training employees on H&S related policies, procedures, and regulations
- Understanding the behavioral aspects of safety programs
- Knowledge of federal and state-specific H&S regulations and the ability to interpret and apply these regulations
- Familiarity with Hazardous Communications, Confined Space, Air Monitoring, Job Safety Analysis and Health and Safety Plans
- Professional certification in a related field (CIH, CSP, CHMM, etc.) a plus
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and Access
- Knowledge of respirators and fit testing protocols
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to successfully pass drug and alcohol screening and background check as per project-specific requirements
- Frequent travel to company locations as required
- Ability to travel to various job sites and spend most, if not all, of the work day on-site and meet with clients, as required
- Possess a valid driver’s license in good standing

- $115,000—$150,000 USD
