About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Vehicle Integration Engineer to own vehicle bring-up and sensor calibration across our autonomous platforms. In this role, you will take a vehicle from mechanically complete to first autonomous engagement, owning the sequence, calibration method, and acceptance criteria. You will build the calibration and test infrastructure to make bring-up a repeatable process for the production team.
Responsibilities
- Own the vehicle bring-up sequence end to end: power-on, firmware and software load, device enumeration, systems validation, first autonomous engagement validation, and sign-off for fleet release.
- Own intrinsic and extrinsic calibration across the full sensor suite (lidar, radar, camera, IMU, GNSS).
- Build and maintain the physical calibration environment, define calibration standards, verification methods, and early detection of calibration drift.
- Author, execute, and analyze test plans and procedures for fleet validation, reporting results for actionable insights.
- Resolve ambiguous failures across mechanical, electrical, firmware, and software boundaries, providing engineers with reproduction steps and evidence.
- Specify, build, and maintain test hardware, tooling, benches, and harness breakouts.
- Provide feedback to hardware design based on integration and calibration challenges.
- Partner with engineering technicians as customers for build and bring-up execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 3+ years integrating, validating, and debugging electrical and electromechanical systems on prototype and production vehicles in autonomous vehicles, EVs, or at an automotive OEM or supplier.
- Proven track record of technical ownership.
- Deep hands-on expertise in vehicle E/E architecture: low-voltage power distribution and redundancy, wire harness and connector systems (low and high voltage), and associated failure modes.
- Fluency with automotive networks and diagnostics (CAN, CAN FD, Automotive Ethernet, DTCs) and supporting tooling (Vector CANalyzer, Vehicle Spy, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).
- Experience integrating and debugging vehicle actuation interfaces (steering, braking, propulsion) or comparable motor-control and powertrain systems, including redundant, degraded, and fail-operational behavior.
- Experience integrating compute into vehicles: carrier boards, high-speed differential signaling, power sequencing, and thermal management.
- Proven ability to navigate highly ambiguous environments and self-direct technical problem-solving.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical trade-offs to cross-functional partners.
- Ability to work onsite five days a week in San Francisco.
- Ability to travel to test and deployment sites.
- Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
