About the Role

The Java Lead will be part of the Capital Markets Technology – Middle Office organization, responsible for designing, delivering, and supporting mission-critical platforms that underpin trade processing, risk, P&L, and post-trade workflows. This role requires a strong hands-on technical leader who can operate within a highly regulated, large-scale banking environment, partner closely with business stakeholders, and lead teams to deliver stable and scalable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and enhancement of Java-based middle office platforms supporting Capital Markets.
  • Partner with Front Office, Middle Office Operations, Risk, Finance, and Compliance teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Own system architecture, technical design, and code quality across the application stack.
  • Drive technology standards, best practices, and SDLC adherence aligned with enterprise governance.
  • Lead code reviews, mentor developers, and provide technical guidance to onshore/offshore teams.
  • Ensure system resilience, performance tuning, and production stability in a 24x5/24x7 environment.
  • Support regulatory initiatives, audit findings, and risk remediation activities.
  • Collaborate with DevOps, QA, and Infrastructure teams for CI/CD, releases, and environment management.
  • Participate in incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Core Java (Java 8+) in enterprise environments.
  • Extensive experience with Spring / Spring Boot, REST APIs, and Microservices architecture.
  • Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, memory management, and JVM tuning.
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL) and strong SQL skills.
  • Hands-on experience with messaging and event-driven systems (Kafka, MQ, JMS).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Maven/Gradle.
  • Experience working in Linux/Unix environments.
  • Proven experience working in Middle Office Technology within Investment Banking or Capital Markets.
  • Strong understanding of trade lifecycle and post-trade processing.
  • Strong understanding of trade enrichment, confirmations, settlements, and reconciliations.
  • Strong understanding of risk and P&L reporting.
  • Exposure to one or more asset classes: Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Derivatives.
  • Experience working with risk, regulatory reporting, and compliance-driven systems is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated experience leading development teams in a large banking environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage business partners and senior technology stakeholders.
  • Comfortable operating within structured processes, enterprise controls, and regulatory standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, ownership mindset, and attention to detail.
