About the Role

Process Engineers on our Process Engineering team are key partners for customers in the North American market. As a creative technical leader, you'll support the successful sale, execution, commissioning, and operation of complete system solutions for customers' ultrapure water (UPW) treatment needs. To deliver winning solutions, you'll apply deep technical knowledge of our solutions and technologies combined with an understanding of the customer's process, the market, regulations, and our competitors to continually balance capital and operating costs and technical risk with project success.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the process design of ultrapure water treatment solutions for the microelectronics industry.
  • Characterize water chemistry and develop design basis, including reclaim-to-UPW applications.
  • Select and design unit processes, size equipment, and establish process guarantees.
  • Apply advanced treatment technologies including solids separation, membrane treatment (UF, NF, RO), ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas-transfer membrane processes.
  • Own system integration across multiple unit operations or collaborate with system integrators on complex flowsheets.
  • Evaluate system operation under design and upset conditions, identify potential failure points, and participate in HAZOP reviews.
  • Engage in piloting and benchmarking treatability studies for design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.
  • Act as a system integrator, clearly identifying and communicating the impacts of unit processes on upstream and downstream operations.
  • Build long-term customer relationships and present at industry conferences to position Veolia as UPW experts.
  • Serve as an expert within the business, participating in innovation and training others in process design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in an Engineering field (Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical preferred) or other technical discipline with relevant experience.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in UPW treatment design, combining process design and field operations.
  • Demonstrated experience with UPW treatment processes and system design/operation for the microelectronics industry.
  • Proven ability to integrate multiple unit operations into cohesive, optimized treatment systems.
  • Familiarity with process design software/tools such as WinFlows, WAVE, and/or GasCAD (Liqui-Cel GTM).
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheet tools (Google Sheets, Excel).
  • Clear, concise communication and presentation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise strong engineering judgment under changing conditions.
  • Strong team collaboration skills and ability to take ownership of the system integration process.
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (PE / P.Eng. / Ing.) in a US or Canadian jurisdiction, or willingness to obtain licensure.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% within North America.
