Responsibilities

  • Direct, day-to-day supervision, training, and motivation of all zone inspectors.
  • Review of all inspections conducted within the zone.
  • Routinely work with all inspectors assigned to the zone.
  • Hold zone meetings.
  • Maintain the Consumer Complaint Tracking system.
  • Review Daily reports.
  • Handle legal actions.
  • Conduct audits.
  • Conduct supervisory reviews.
  • Conduct new inspector trainings.
  • Disseminate management directives.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State and have access to a motor vehicle when necessary, or otherwise demonstrate capacity to meet transportation requirements.
  • May be required to travel out-of-state for overnight trips on occasion due to ongoing training commitments.
  • Must take the next scheduled Civil Service examination for this title and achieve a reachable score for permanent appointment.
  • Candidates who do not pass the examination or achieve a reachable score may not be retained.

  • One year of permanent, competitive service as a Food Inspector 1 (for Provisional Appointment)
  • One year of permanent, contingent-permanent, or 55 b/c service as a Food Inspector 2, G-23 (for Reassignment Qualifications)

Salary/Compensations

  • Starting salary: $86,681/year
  • Job rate salary: $109,650/year
