About the Role

As a Principal UX Designer in the Bentley Infrastructure Cloud (BIC) team, you will be a senior individual contributor leading through standards, judgment, and influence. You will define and uphold UX quality across BIC's product surfaces, challenge the team to improve, and mentor designers through rigorous feedback and insightful modeling of senior UX thinking. You will also explore and integrate AI into UX practices, driving the team's perception of design at Bentley.

Responsibilities

Define and own the UX quality standard across all team engagements.
Act as the senior UX authority on user flows, interaction patterns, information architecture, and experience quality.
Lead with evidence, grounding design decisions in deep user understanding.
Build design credibility in resistant product and engineering teams.
Collaborate with strategic design leads on problem framing, vision work, and organizational design challenges.
Influence product and business decisions by demonstrating how experience quality drives strategic outcomes.
Model and advance AI-enabled UX practice, integrating AI into research, synthesis, prototyping, and validation.
Develop designers through direct, rigorous feedback, pairing, and critique.
Build the evidence base by leading the team's case study and knowledge output.
Communicate regularly with managers, peers, and colleagues via Microsoft Teams and in person.
This is a full-time, individual contributor role.
Some flexibility in working hours may be required to accommodate collaboration across time zones.
Travel may be required infrequently to Bentley office locations.

Requirements

10+ years in UX, interaction or product design with a portfolio demonstrating sustained excellence across complex, multi-product environments and a clear point of view on great UX.
A track record of raising the design bar in organizations where design influence had to be earned.
Deep expertise in user-centered design methods, from research and discovery through to detailed interaction design.
Strong opinions about quality and the ability to articulate them to any audience.
Proven ability to lead through influence without authority, shaping complex initiatives, developing senior designers, and driving cultural change.
Deep fluency across the full UX spectrum, from strategic framing and systems thinking to detailed interaction craft.
Active, confident leadership of AI in UX practice, integrating AI and having a clear point of view on its impact.
Strong accessibility literacy and a commitment to inclusive design.
Fluency in Figma and strong design system literacy.
Possess a presence that enhances a room, remaining calm under pressure, direct in feedback, generous with thinking, and relentless about the standard.
