About the Role
This position serves as the Finance Coordinator for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Lewis County, providing administrative direction, management, and coordination for all Finance functions. The role involves performing complex tasks to support the Association, working closely with the SBN Finance Lead, and offering high-level support to the Board of Directors and Executive Director.
Responsibilities
- Assist in planning for delegated and assigned financial functions for the Association.
- Assist with planning for Association’s expenses/budgets.
- Assist in providing administrative direction for all Association Finance responsibilities.
- Communicate with the Finance SBN Lead regarding questions, issues and/or troubleshooting in all areas of Finance.
- Provide administrative management for all Association Finance responsibilities.
- Assist with guiding the administration of the overall Associations expenses.
- Ensure compliance with all minimum operating standards in the Finance area per established protocol.
- Assist staff in day-to-day coordination of business Finance activities.
- Follow standard operating procedures for efficient business operations in the Finance area.
- Perform a variety of Finance functions including preparing and executing budgets, processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and performing month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
- Implement established best practices and procedures in Finance.
- Provide administrative support for regional Finance functions, including attending trainings and reaching out for IT support.
- Maintain Association Finance files.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all position responsibilities.
- Maintain professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses.
- May require transport of program materials and resources.
- Develop and pursue a professional development plan.
- Collaborate in activities supporting Cornell Cooperative Extension, including staff meetings, expense reporting, and marketing.
- Support the association to maintain a safe working environment.
- Strive to follow applicable federal, state, local regulations, and association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
- Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors.
Requirements
- Associate’s Degree or Equivalent Education (GED/High School Diploma and one (1) year transferrable program/functional experience).
- College level accounting courses.
- Demonstrated strong accounting, bookkeeping and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated willingness to learn updates and new financial systems, procedures and best practices.
- Experience relevant to the role of the position.
- Valid New York State Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements.
- Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to secure confidential information and materials appropriately.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work with and relate to co-workers, advisors, community agencies, professional leaders and clientele of varying ages, socio-economic and cultural diversities.
