About the Role

As a Transaction Monitoring Analyst on Vanguard's Financial Crime team, you will identify and investigate unusual or suspicious activity to maintain a robust financial crime risk management framework. This role offers an opportunity to develop expertise in transaction monitoring, financial crime typologies, and risk-based investigations while partnering with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct timely and thorough investigations of transaction monitoring alerts using internal and external data sources to assess customer activity and identify potential financial crime risks.
  • Escalate suspicious activity in line with internal procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, testing and optimisation of transaction monitoring controls, scenarios, rules and thresholds.
  • Identify control gaps, emerging risks and opportunities to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of monitoring processes.
  • Produce high-quality, audit-ready case documentation, ensuring investigations are accurately recorded and supported by appropriate evidence.
  • Develop and maintain management information, dashboards and reporting that provide insight into transaction monitoring trends, typologies and control performance.
  • Support quality assurance activities, control testing, risk assessments, audits and regulatory reviews.
  • Build strong working relationships with colleagues across Compliance, Risk, Operations, Technology and third-party service providers.
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance on transaction monitoring practices, financial crime typologies and control requirements.
  • Contribute to change initiatives, regulatory developments, system enhancements and continuous improvement projects that strengthen Vanguard's financial crime control environment.

Requirements

  • Experience in Transaction Monitoring, AML investigations, suspicious activity investigations or Financial Crime Operations within Financial Services.
  • Strong understanding of Financial Crime regulations and lifecycle, including AML, Sanctions, Bribery and Corruption and Tax Evasion.
  • Experience investigating potentially suspicious customer activity and making evidence-based, risk-focused decisions.
  • Strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to produce clear, concise and well-reasoned case documentation and investigation reports.
  • Experience using transaction monitoring systems, case management tools and screening platforms.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
