About the Role

Corus Entertainment is seeking an Application Support Specialist to provide primary and secondary support for business applications across on-premises and cloud environments. You will troubleshoot and resolve issues, coordinate testing and system changes, maintain documentation, and support business-critical applications. This role offers the opportunity to support a diverse enterprise application environment, solve complex technical challenges, and expand your expertise across cloud, data, integration, and business systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary and secondary support for business applications, building expertise in their functionality, configuration, dependencies, and business use.
  • Coordinate with vendors, technical teams, and business users to manage ongoing support, updates, and patches.
  • Investigate incidents, identify root causes, troubleshoot urgent production issues, and drive issues through to resolution while keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Maintain secure, reliable applications by completing scheduled operational and audit activities, reviewing vendor releases, assessing risks, and coordinating updates, patches, testing, user validation, and approved changes across hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Support application maintenance, modification, and enhancement through problem solving, data analysis, testing, documentation, and coordination with business stakeholders.
  • Create, maintain, and analyze reports, dashboards, and operational insights using Power BI, Excel, and SQL to support business processes, issue analysis, and decision-making.
  • Conduct business application security administration in accordance with policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
  • Communicate regularly with senior managers and business stakeholders, translating technical findings and solution options into clear, practical business terms.
  • Use empathy and sound judgement when working with stakeholders, particularly during incidents, changes, and competing business priorities.
  • Recommend practical solutions that balance business priorities, user impact, technical constraints, and long-term supportability.
  • Use incident trends, process gaps, and operational data to identify root causes, automate repeatable work, streamline support processes, and deliver measurable improvements in reliability and team effectiveness.
  • Participate in compensated after-hours support for planned maintenance, major changes, upgrades, and urgent production incidents.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in information technology, computer science, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of five years of progressive experience in information technology, application support, business systems, or a related enterprise support environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify root causes, interpret operational data, create reports and dashboards using Power BI, Excel, and SQL, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Ability to work independently, organize competing priorities, adapt to changing needs, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced support environment.
  • Strong product ownership mindset, including curiosity and initiative to learn application functionality, dependencies, and business usage.
  • Familiarity with ERP, OMS and CRM platforms such as Great Plains, Dynamics 365, S4M, WideOrbit and Salesforce or similar systems.
  • Working knowledge of hybrid Windows environments, including Windows Server, Azure, enterprise applications, and ITIL/ITSM practices for incident, problem, change, and service management.
  • Experience installing, updating, and supporting Windows applications and related components in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with confidence, empathy, and sound judgement to work effectively with senior managers, technical teams, vendors, and end users and translate technical concepts into practical business language.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise applications and integrations across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, including ERP, OMS, or CRM platforms such as Great Plains, S4M, WideOrbit, Dynamics 365, Salesforce, or similar systems.
  • Proven ability to take ownership of supported applications, understand business processes, translate user needs into practical improvements, and independently resolve technical and business-process issues through root-cause analysis and stakeholder communication.
  • Hands-on experience installing, upgrading, patching, testing, and supporting Windows-based enterprise applications, including reviewing release documentation, assessing risks, and recommending implementation approaches.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL standards and ITSM processes, including incident response, change management, and service support.
  • Strong record of communicating with business stakeholders and senior management in a clear, professional, and solution-oriented manner.
  • Hands-on scripting or automation capability using PowerShell, Python, SQL, or a comparable language is strongly preferred; familiarity with additional languages such as VBA, .NET, JQL, or Java is an asset.
