About the Role

Keoghs LLP, a leading UK insurance law firm, seeks an insurance lawyer for its Property Risks and Coverage Team, specializing in Construction. This role involves handling complex property damage and insurance coverage claims, managing an independent caseload, and supporting high-value cases. The position also includes delivering training seminars and workshops to insurer clients.

Responsibilities

• Independently handle a caseload from start to finish.
• Review documents and prepare draft advices to clients.
• Craft bespoke coverage advices.
• Support all aspects of the litigation process.
• Analyze issues of coverage, liability, quantum, and strategy.
• Conduct thorough investigations.
• Prepare first draft instructions to counsel and experts.
• Perform legal research and document searches.
• Attend client meetings, strategy discussions, and conferences for note-taking and follow-up.
• Ensure compliance with SRA Standards & Regulations.
• Draft applications and court proceedings.
• Engage in settlement negotiations, roundtable discussions, and ADR.

Requirements

• Solicitor/FILEX qualification.
• Previous defendant property insurance litigation experience, ideally within a Construction background.
• Thorough understanding of disputes and claims handled by the department and our insurer client.
• Familiarity with product liability, breach of contract, negligence, property law, and insurance coverage issues.
• Experience dealing with challenging customers (Desirable).
• Strong ability to manage and prioritize workload effectively.
• Keen eye for detail in all tasks.
• Comfortable working with case management systems.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for liaising with senior claims handlers and managing major litigation.
