About the Role

The Patient Management Centre Representative serves as a welcoming and knowledgeable first point of contact for patients, families, caregivers, visitors, and staff at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. Based at the Main Floor Information Desk, the representative provides information, patient navigation support, and facilitates access to services to enhance the overall patient and family experience.

Responsibilities

  • Providing optimal customer service while assisting patients and family with hospital services in-person and on the telephone
  • Answer, screen and forward telephone calls, take messages and provide information as required
  • Receive, sort, date-stamp and coordinate all incoming and outgoing mail, packages, and interoffice correspondence
  • Compiling Patient Education packages for clinics
  • Supports patients and families in navigating hospital services, programs, and resources
  • Using EPIC in accordance with UHN privacy and confidentiality
  • Compile statistics and reports on activities
  • Performing cross-functional support functions, as assigned and performing other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

Requirements

  • At minimum, completion of High School diploma or recognized equivalent required.
  • At minimum, 1 to 2 years of practical and related experience required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the delivery of excellent customer service required, in a health-related environment an asset
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated tact, discretion, judgment and commitment to excellence
  • Detail-oriented, excellent time management and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Current UHN employees must have successfully completed their probationary period, have a good employee record along with satisfactory attendance in accordance with UHN's attendance management program, to be eligible for consideration.

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and customer service skills
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills including Word and Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing and/or responding to difficult situations
