About the Role

As a Universal Banker, you will provide a full range of banking services to retail customers, handling both transactional and non-transactional processes. This role offers more personal banking options while still providing traditional services and assists in reaching branch goals.

Responsibilities

  • Process all banking transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, money orders, selling money orders, gift and bank checks, loan payments, and safe deposit box rentals using online terminals.
  • Open new deposit and checking accounts, explain products, and handle deceased accounts.
  • Assist with file maintenance and documentation of daily platform work.
  • Assist customers with safe deposit boxes, answer inquiries, and explain products and services, including CD renegotiations.
  • Discuss personal financial needs with customers and recommend suitable bank products and services.
  • Cross-sell bank products and services.
  • Interact with other bank departments as required.
  • Service customers in person or via telephone to answer inquiries, resolve problems, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Explain the features and benefits of online banking.
  • Prepare daily proof sheets and assist with end-of-day branch closing procedures, including consolidation sheets and document imaging.
  • Maintain accurate customer and account records.
  • Maintain and update safe deposit box records, back office work, order checks, and maintain branch files.
  • Make referrals to Wealth Management, First Jersey Title, Mortgage Origination, and other bank departments.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is preferred.
  • 1-2 years of retail or customer service experience required.
  • Interpersonal, time management, organizational, and PC skills are a must.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to work weekends as needed or scheduled.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Candidates must attend mandatory training; continued employment is contingent upon passing training classes.
