About the Role
Process Engineers on the Process Engineering team are key partners for customers in the North American market. They are creative technical leaders who support the successful sale, engineering, commissioning, and operation of complete system solutions. This role requires deep technical knowledge of our solutions and technologies combined with an understanding of the customer’s process, the market, regulations, and our competitors to continually balance technical risk with commercial viability.
Responsibilities
- Lead the process design of ultrapure, wastewater, and reclaim treatment solutions for the Microelectronics industry.
- Align a team of Process Engineers working together on a flow sheet to a strategy, a list of deliverables, and a schedule, ensuring all process deliverables meet quality and schedule for the project.
- Lead the design of complete water, wastewater, or waste treatment solutions that will meet the customer’s requirements.
- Apply advanced treatment technologies including biological treatment, ammonia removal, solids separation, low- and high-pressure membrane treatment, ion exchange, UV treatment, and gas-transfer membrane processes.
- Own the overall Process Flow Diagram (PFD), associated flow tables or mass balance, and overall process guarantees.
- Engage in piloting and benchmarking and treatability studies as part of design, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of UPW treatment solutions.
- Serve as a lead technical contact with our customers, building partnership relationships.
- Serve as the lead technical contact with other functions working together on the project.
- Identify and support management of technical risks related to the treatment process.
- Troubleshoot technical issues using data and observations.
- Understand relevant regulations and liaise with regulatory agencies as needed.
- Own and be accountable for the success of assigned projects throughout project development.
- Demonstrate Veolia’s expertise in the external market through customer and conference presentations.
- Provide training and 1:1 coaching to members of the Process Engineering team.
Requirements
- Ability to design complete integrated water, wastewater, or waste treatment solutions.
- Ability to integrate multiple main unit operations into a single flow sheet.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Exceptionally strong oral and written communication skills in English.
- Proactive organization and time management.
- Excellent computer skills (i.e., Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Google Suite analogues).
- Ability to exercise good judgement under changing conditions.
- Critical and creative thinking, and ability to evaluate among numerous options.
- Data analysis.
- Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Bachelor or advanced degree in an Engineering field – Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical preferred, or other technical discipline with a combination of process design and hands-on microelectronics water and wastewater treatment system experience.
- 10+ years of related experience, preferably process engineering specific, with an emphasis in process design and/or operation of water, wastewater or waste treatment.
- Demonstrated experience with UPW, wastewater, and reclaim treatment processes and system design/operation for the microelectronics industry.
- Leadership experience or demonstrated leadership competency to connect people, set and communicate a vision, align and inspire a team towards an objective, train/coach/mentor others, and confidently make effective decisions with limited information under evolving conditions.
