About the Role
The Production Engineer / Programmer creates, maintains, and troubleshoots manufacturing programs and production support processes for CNC, laser, plasma, robotic welding, and fabrication equipment. This role provides technical support to production personnel, resolves tooling and process issues, improves workflows, and ensures programs and documentation support safe, efficient, and high-quality fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain CNC, laser, plasma, robotic welding, and fabrication programs.
- Create machine programs using CAD/CAM software and manufacturing systems.
- Review engineering drawings and specifications for accuracy.
- Provide technical support for production personnel on manufacturing processes and programming.
- Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and machine performance.
- Support daily production needs related to programming, setup, workflow, and fabrication.
- Analyze production workflows to improve efficiency, throughput, and repeatability.
- Assist in reducing setup times, cycle times, scrap, and rework.
- Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams on manufacturability or programming concerns.
- Review bills of material, routings, and manufacturing documentation.
- Support engineering change implementation impacting machine programs or production methods.
- Maintain accurate documentation for programming, setup, and production support.
- Ensure programs and processes comply with quality standards and customer requirements.
- Support corrective actions, root cause analysis, and preventive actions.
- Create and maintain production information, routings, and labor standards in ERP systems.
- Analyze production metrics and recommend improvements.
- Promote safe manufacturing practices and OSHA compliance.
- Participate in safety audits, investigations, and improvement activities.
- Ensure programming, tooling, equipment, and process changes consider safety.
Requirements
- Ability to stand and/or walk for up to 8 hours per day.
- Ability to work on a computer for up to 8 hours per day.
- Must be mindful of safety and use proper PPE when required.
