About the Role

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Carpenter is responsible for completing repairs and alterations to building structures, including small in-house renovations and additions, while adhering to all relevant codes, regulations, and hospital policies.

Responsibilities

  • Complete repairs and alterations to building structures (e.g., walls, ceilings, doors, windows, millwork, abatement, flooring, wall cladding/paneling, gyprocc).
  • Adhere to building, fire, infection prevention and control codes and regulations.
  • Perform small in-house renovations and additions, including Infection Prevention and Control hoarding.
  • Adhere to all provincial, building, fire, and infection prevention and control codes and regulations.
  • Follow all pertinent hospital policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in the Carpentry trade, issued by the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, or a Certificate of Qualification in the Carpentry trade bearing a Red Seal endorsement.
  • Minimum two (2) years' related experience, including broad exposure to the construction industry in a similar organization.
  • Ability to lift in excess of 40 lbs (18 kg).
  • Travel between sites may be required.
  • Access to reliable transportation required.
  • Successful applicants will be required to provide proof of certification prior to interview.

Salary/Compensations

  • $31.55 - $37.31 hourly
