About the Role
Stony Brook Medicine is seeking valuable members for their team as Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). Under the supervision of an attending physician, EMTs provide life support services and transport patients requiring emergency hospital care, delivering basic life support in out-of-hospital settings. This position is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS), which may offer non-competitive appointment without an examination, with a future conversion to competitive status.
Responsibilities
- Assists Emergency Medical Technician (Paramedic) and other medical care providers in the provision of advanced level medical care.
- Coordinates transport; operates the ambulance; maintains transportation equipment and assures the availability of adequate supplies.
- Provides administrative support to the Emergency Services Coordinator as needed.
- Performs other duties as related to the Emergency Medical Service transportation service as assigned.
Requirements
- New York State Health Department certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.
- Appropriate New York State driver’s license for the type of vehicle to be operated.
- Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services.
- Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
- Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen.
- Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
- Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
