About the Role
BDO Canada is seeking a Senior Manager to join their Transaction Tax Services team. This new role will be instrumental in supporting the growth of the practice and will involve working with clients and deal teams on various transaction tax matters.
Responsibilities
- Lead sell-side and buy-side tax due diligence engagements to identify, evaluate and quantify potential tax liabilities and exposures.
- Work with vendors to mitigate exposures prior to sale and/or with legal counsel in reviewing purchase and sale agreements.
- Mitigate tax exposures prior to sale process with Partners & clients.
- Analyze complex tax issues to design tax-efficient structures for acquisitions, divestitures and reorganizations.
- Collaborate on the design of Canadian and international private equity funds and related management structures.
- Prepare technical deliverables outlining tax analysis and implications.
- Manage and mentor engagement team members across the country.
- Maintain high-level client relationships and provide effective engagement support.
- Contribute to the recruitment of new talent.
- Develop staff capabilities through coaching, knowledge transfer, and training.
- Support business development initiatives, focusing on the private equity space and identifying new client opportunities.
- Actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies.
Requirements
- Completed CPA designation or LLB.
- Completion of Master of Taxation or CPA Canada In-depth Tax program.
- At least 6 years of experience in professional services, specializing in Tax.
- Experience with M&A transactions.
- Experience identifying issues and developing solutions.
- Experience managing client expectations and engagement economics.
- Experience with team leadership.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of English is essential for communication with English-speaking partners and clients in Quebec and outside of Quebec, and for drafting documents.
