About the Role
As a Senior Underwriter on the Middle Market Construction team, you will execute the go-to-market strategy for the US Middle Market Construction business and manage a portfolio to drive profitable growth.
Responsibilities
- Market to Middle Market producers to secure new and renewal business within the construction industry.
- Review Middle Market submission information, including loss history, and conduct appropriate research to determine risk degree based on defined construction appetite guidance, company regulations, and guidelines.
- Coordinate with varied business divisions including Actuarial, Claims, Reinsurance, Accounting, Marketing, Regulatory, Strategy & Analytics, and others internally.
- Determine quote or declination of risks.
- Calculate rates and premium charges using approved rating models.
- Develop and modify policy wording in accordance with delegated underwriting authority when standard forms are not appropriate.
- Actively cross-sell afforded products and services.
- Support service standards in delivery of primary casualty construction products and services.
- Work with other underwriters on the team on cross-marketing goals and objectives.
Requirements
- Moderate commercial underwriting experience.
- Underwriting expertise related to solutions for construction managers, general contractors, and trade contractors.
- Outstanding insured and broker interaction with the ability to effectively target current and prospective contacts to promote offered products.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for internal teams and external brokers.
- Outstanding organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Outstanding comprehension and work experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% as necessary.
