About the Role

Join GFT's Practice or CBG Team as a Structural Engineer, contributing to transformative transportation infrastructure projects that enhance community connectivity. This role focuses on resilient, sustainable design and construction for modern, multimodal roadway systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, condition assessment, rehabilitation, and structural design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and transportation-related facilities.
  • Conduct steel and concrete design, utilizing AutoCAD and structural programs like CSI Bridge and SAP 2000.
  • Perform structural design calculations for concrete and steel structures.
  • Develop structural drawings using AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  • Act as a staff specialist in advanced theories, concepts, and principles.
  • Coordinate structural design with project requirements.
  • Lead structural design for small-scale projects.
  • Design concrete and steel members, including slabs, footings, columns, and beams.
  • Develop structural details.
  • Review structural shop drawings.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with various disciplines.
  • Attend seminars to broaden exposure and stay current on industry trends.
  • Assist with other duties assigned by Discipline Lead Engineers and/or Project Managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required.
  • P.Eng license.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant full-time work experience.
  • Hands-on experience with structural analysis and design software.
  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Capable of field inspection activity such as climbing ladders and using man lifts.
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code and MTO Structural Manual.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Local candidates will be given preference.
