About the Role

Play a part in making NSW a better place to work, live, and travel by working in an organization based on purpose, structure, and process. Contribute diligently to operations to make a meaningful impact on the community and economy.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary interface between Transport and portfolio Ministerial Offices, acting as the key relationship manager for Ministerial staff, Department Liaison Officers, and Transport.
  • Ensure proactive engagement, clear communication, streamlined, and customer-focused operations, and high-quality, timely outputs.
  • Support Transport’s Ministers, the Secretary, and senior management by coordinating and facilitating well-researched, concise, and astute advice on complex issues within tight timeframes.
  • Identify and refer urgent, sensitive, and confidential issues for action.
  • Contribute to the Government and Parliamentary Services branch by facilitating cross-team collaboration and working closely with stakeholders.
  • Establish a consistent approach, identify and initiate continuous improvement opportunities, and support knowledge sharing across the branch.
  • Coordinate complex and sensitive briefing materials, reports, and parliamentary products for Ministerial Offices and the Secretary, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage incoming requests, triage them efficiently, and keep systems updated and processes streamlined.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior executives and Ministerial Offices on urgent or politically sensitive issues, including risk identification and mitigation.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships through clear communication and proactive engagement.
  • Maintain cooperative and productive working relationships with key internal and external contacts to achieve a strategic approach to all requests.
  • Provide proactive advice and information from across Transport and its agencies.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of State Government systems, policies, and practices, including the workings of a Ministerial Office, Parliament, and Machinery of Government.
  • Demonstrated ability to critically analyze complex information.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in plain English.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Excellent written, authoring, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to draft clear, professional, well-crafted customer responses.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and SMEs.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience in Government Services or Ministerial Services.
