About the Role

As leaders in the utility industry concentrating on quality and safety, RECONN is looking for people to join our team who are problem solvers, take pride in public safety and are comfortable in a fast paced, exciting work environment.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for checking gas meters for leaks and corrosion, as well as installing Remote Methane Detectors.
• Perform visual inspection and ensure all required paperwork and drawings are completed.
• Identify any abnormal operating conditions while on-site.
• Accurately fill out all forms associated with the inspection visit (form may be electronic or paper).

Requirements

• Able and willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
• Ability to travel locally during the business day; some out-of-area or overnight travel may be expected.
• Able to pass a drug screen (this is a safety-sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record required.
• Able to stand and walk for long periods of time on varying types of terrain; bend and stoop; lift heavy items up to 75 lbs.
• Proficiency with technology.
• Able to communicate clearly with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
• Ability to use simple hand tools.
• Ability to read utility maps.
• Able to work in all areas of Long Island (willingness to work in NYC a plus).

Skills

• Customer service experience is a plus.
• Previous outdoor experience is a plus.

Education Level

• Instructor led training will be provided.
• Credit hours for completing our utility locator training curriculum and/or for military service.

Salary/Compensations

• Starting pay for this position is $20 per hour for new technicians up to $27 per hour for those with substantial prior experience.
• New technicians will be moved to $20.60 per hour once fully qualified and working independently in the field.
• Production-based incentives up to $750 per bi-weekly paycheck.
