About the Role

Responsible for managing the on-site Volunteer Program for the 2028 PGA Championship, maintaining high standards of excellence to ensure the PGA remains the leader in Championship golf. This is a temporary assignment from October 2026 to June 2028.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate PGA Championship Volunteers, including recruiting, registering, educating, outfitting, scheduling, training, and leading them through Championship Week.
  • Utilize Volunteer Management Software (Trust Event) for volunteer database management, communication, and information dissemination.
  • Draft, create, and send communications to Committee Chairs and volunteers regarding events, deadlines, and pertinent Championship information.
  • Organize and coach the Executive Committee, Division Chairs, and Committee Chairs to lead their respective areas.
  • Assist with administrative tasks for the General Chair, Executive Committee, Division Chairs, and Committee Chairs.
  • Inform the host site of volunteer opportunities, important dates, deadlines, and other Championship and PGA of America related information.
  • Ensure PGA Frisco Volunteer Operations staff are informed of all Volunteer Program activities.
  • Plan and arrange events such as Committee Manual Meetings, Committee Prep Meetings, Uniform and Credential Distribution, and Committee meetings/receptions.
  • Manage purchase orders and requisitions for volunteer expenses, process invoices, and report significant expenses to the Championship Director.
  • Follow up on invoices, research discrepancies, and collaborate with the Finance Department and vendors.
  • Serve as the receptionist for the Championship Office, directing and assisting visitors.
  • Manage Championship Office communications.
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of the Championship Office, including ordering supplies and arranging space.
  • Manage all operations related to sending packages via UPS and/or FedEx.
  • Coordinate and execute all aspects of informational mailings.
  • Communicate important information related to the Championship Office to all appropriate individuals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in business administration or related field.
  • One year of experience in customer service, event management, or volunteer administration, preferably at a Championship.
  • Prior team management experience preferred.
  • Ability to travel up to 15% required.
  • Ability to work overtime, including weekends (sometimes up to 15 hours a day).
  • Ability to transport moderately heavy tournament equipment and supplies.
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Skills

  • Knowledge of organization functions of a Championship operation with an emphasis on volunteer administration.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets) and database tools.
