About the Role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager with a solid track record of developing and nurturing strong teams, while maintaining the hands-on technical abilities to navigate and contribute to our engineering roadmap. You will be responsible for supporting the engineering team that owns the distributed systems powering Chronosphere’s logging platform. You are comfortable working within a complex product and infrastructure roadmap and have the ability to prioritize and balance work across our individual contributors. You know how to support engineers at all stages of their career, and are motivated to help them do their best work.
Responsibilities
- Partner with key stakeholders such as product and design to vet the direction for the logging product, drive alignment and prioritization on the team
- Manage projects to both the product and infrastructure roadmaps, establish delivery sequence, and drive day-to-day execution focused on priorities
- Balance work across our individual contributors and help them do their best work by creating a healthy team environment
- Support and hire up a team of 10+ engineers through all stages of their career via feedback, coaching, performance management
- Eliminate barriers to execution and help drive efficiency and high velocity for the team
- Own the reliability of your product area in production. Our engineering teams are responsible for the uptime of their systems, and you will ensure that your team has the focus, tools, and process needed to reliably ship and manage these systems
- Collaborate with other engineering leaders on wider organizational initiatives.
Requirements
- Experience partnering with product and design.
- An ability to take on ambiguity and evolve it into clear direction and priorities for the team by driving alignment and accountability.
- Ability to establish and change processes to empower the team to achieve their goals.
- Experience iterating with product and design and empowering engineers to go from high level requirements to execution plan, and have a track record of successful delivery on the team.
- Familiarity with enterprise software and software as a service. You should understand how this impacts the way product is built, validated, released, and operated.
- Experience coaching and developing software engineers of varied backgrounds and levels.
- Empathy and understanding of how to support engineers to do their best work.
