About the Role

The College of Early Childhood Educators is seeking a detail-oriented finance professional to support financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, budgeting, audit, payroll, benefits, accounts payable, and bookkeeping functions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform bookkeeping activities for the College.
  • Liaise with third-party provider to administer and process scheduled payroll runs.
  • Prepare and process payroll entries and reconciliations.
  • Liaise with the third-party provider to process enrollments, terminations and other changes related to benefits plans.
  • Respond to and resolve pay and benefit-related inquiries and problems.
  • Provide support during the annual audit.
  • Support processing of member payments and transactions.
  • Investigate issues with member payments.
  • Provide updates to the Registration Department as required.
  • Prepare scheduled and ad-hoc financial reports to support the College's financial and accounting reporting requirements.
  • Assist the Finance Manager to provide advice and guidance to help Directors to prepare budgets and forecasts.
  • Assist the Finance Manager to develop long-term financial plans for the College and to identify and analyze the impact of changes to the College's financial position.
  • Keep up-to-date with applicable legislation, trends and practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Four-year university program in Finance or Accounting
  • Enrolled in the Canadian Payroll Association program
  • 2 to 3 years' experience including technical experience with accounting, budgeting, payroll, financial reporting/analysis, and audit.
  • Current knowledge of Canadian financial reporting
  • Knowledge of accounting and payroll software, and office/administrative software (Microsoft Office).
  • Judgment, analytical, organizational skills and attention to detail to prepare accurate financial reports and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits
  • Self-directed and flexible to work well independently and in a team in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to seek clarification and/or provide information about financial reporting and documentation, payroll and benefits.
  • Time management skills to prioritize tasks and ensure timely completion of work.
