About the Role

This is a temporary, full-time Support Worker 3 position at the Lindau site, expected to end on September 5, 2027. The role involves working with children and youth in an out-of-home emergency/urgency stabilization setting overnight.

Responsibilities

  • Working with children and youth in an out-of-home emergency/urgency stabilization setting overnight.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement care plans that support participants' involvement in person-centred programs that promote educational, behavioural, developmental, psychological, and emotional growth.
  • Creating and providing a safe, secure, and supportive environment for participants by developing and maintaining therapeutic relationships that attend to the diverse needs of youth.
  • Navigating conflict, overcoming obstacles, and being creative in providing support to participants while remaining calm and focused in crisis situations by utilizing effective de-escalation and decision-making skills.
  • Work successfully with diverse groups and demonstrate commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice.

Requirements

  • Valid Class G (full) Driver’s License with a 3-year Uncertified Driver Record.
  • Satisfactory current (within the last 6 months) Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Physical Health assessment: verification of up-to-date immunisations, negative TB Skin test (within the last 6 months), COVID vaccination status (2 doses), and ability to meet the physical and psychological requirements of the position.
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR, Level C with AED training preferred.

Experience Level

  • Minimum two (2) years of related experience providing behaviour intervention support.

Education Level

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma in Child & Youth Worker (CYC), Developmental Services Worker (DSW) or Social Service Worker (SSW) - or an equivalent Human Services program.

Salary/Compensations

  • $28.67/ hour plus vacation pay; 2.5% in lieu of benefits
