About the Role
As a Private Banking Instructor specializing in sales and relationship management, you will design and deliver practical, client-facing skills training for private banking and wealth management professionals. You will translate firsthand industry experience into engaging instruction on prospecting, needs discovery, solution presentation, and long-term relationship management.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a lead facilitator for private banking and wealth management training programs
- Help professionals strengthen commercial, advisory, and interpersonal skills required to serve high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients
- Enhance presentation and coaching skills, expand professional network, and establish yourself as a thought leader in private banking education
- Deliver live in-person and virtual training seminars covering prospecting, consultative discovery, solution presentation, relationship management, fee and negotiation conversations, and trusted-advisor behaviors
- Collaborate on curriculum development, including designing workshop agendas, learning outcomes, case studies, role plays, and assessments
- Edit and update training materials to ensure relevance, accuracy, and alignment with current industry practice
- Develop blended learning materials for various audience levels
- Coach participants through realistic client scenarios and provide clear, actionable feedback
- Integrate ethical, appropriate, and compliant sales practices throughout all instruction
- Complete WSP's Train-the-Trainer Program
Requirements
- Significant firsthand experience as a private banker, relationship manager, wealth advisor, or similar client-facing professional serving HNW/UHNW individuals, family offices, or External Asset Managers
- Demonstrated record of prospecting, pitching, and managing or growing a book of business is strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of the private banking product shelf, including discretionary and advisory portfolio management, structured products, alternatives, credit and lending, wealth planning, trusts, and philanthropic advisory
- Ability to translate product features into client benefits
- Fluency in consultative and needs-based selling approaches, such as SPIN Selling, Challenger Sale, or comparable discovery frameworks
- Ability to adapt selling approaches to private banking
- Strong grounding in trusted-advisor behaviors, objection handling, fee and negotiation conversations, cross-selling, client retention, and share-of-wallet growth strategies
- Exceptional presentation, facilitation, storytelling, and coaching skills
- Ability to convert practitioner expertise into clear, engaging learning experiences
- Comfort teaching active listening, nonverbal communication, cultural adaptability, resilience, professional maturity, and executive presence
- Familiarity with ethical and compliant sales practices in a regulated wealth management environment
- Bachelor’s degree required
- MBA or relevant professional designation is preferred but not required
