About the Role

The Finance Manager is responsible for financial planning, analysis, and reporting activities for MSG Sports. This individual will coordinate the preparation of annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and management reporting packages for specific areas of the Sports business, partnering closely with business leads for accurate financial insights and variance analysis. The role also assists in preparing league reporting requirements for the NBA, NHL, AHL, and G-League.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with compiling the annual budget and long-range planning, ensuring accurate inputs in financial planning tools in a detailed and timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the Accounting team during month-end close process to ensure activities are accurately recorded and aligned with management reporting.
  • Prepare analysis of monthly results and variance reporting packages.
  • Assist in the completion of detailed forecasts and monthly outlooks.
  • Develop and enhance financial reporting capabilities and scalable FP&A processes.
  • Assist in completion of all NBA, NHL, G-League and AHL financial reporting packages and surveys.
  • Assist with special projects / ad hoc requests.
  • Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, preferably in sports, entertainment, or media.
  • Must have advanced Excel skills, experience in Oracle and Hyperion planning or similar financial systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong proficiency in budgeting, forecasting, and monthly analysis reporting.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated flexibility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and be willing to change projects as needed.
  • High Energy and Commitment – must display a positive, confident assertive personality and be able to work on projects until completion.
