About the Role

Play a key role in ensuring Camden residents experiencing financial hardship receive the right combination of financial support and advice to improve their circumstances. Assess Housing Payments and complex Crisis Payment applications, provide expert guidance to Grant Assessors, manage a small team, and contribute to the development of a new approach that brings together discretionary grants, advice and wider interventions. Help ensure support is delivered accurately and efficiently, use expertise to guide decision-making on complex cases, and work with colleagues to identify opportunities to improve systems and processes, outcomes for residents, and build long-term financial resilience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess Housing Payments and complex Crisis Payment applications

Requirements

  • Experience from a welfare benefits, debt or other financial support background
  • Strong track record of supporting people in financial hardship
  • Excellent knowledge of welfare benefits and discretionary support schemes
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills
  • Confidence to make and support complex decisions
  • Ability to communicate with empathy and professionalism
  • Passion for helping residents improve their financial circumstances
  • Commitment to delivering financial support linked in with advice
  • Experience, or a strong desire to develop, in supporting and coaching colleagues
  • Ability to provide guidance, share expertise and help drive high performance across a team
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to balance competing priorities while maintaining a strong focus on resident outcomes
