About the Role

Lead and nurture a critical cluster of pharmaceutical accounts, serving as the primary strategic partner for senior clients and a mentor for your account teams. This role focuses on driving account growth, ensuring flawless execution of complex campaigns, and identifying opportunities to expand the agency's value and market presence within the pharmaceutical sector.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a group of accounts and manage the internal team, including account directors, for proper planning, resource management, forecasting, and revenue.
  • Develop new business opportunities within assigned brands and the broader pharmaceutical market.
  • Oversee the growth and development of the team.
  • Assist the VP Client Services in managing the Client Services department, identifying and resolving issues.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client needs and participate in strategic and tactical brand plan development.
  • Build and maintain long-term partnerships with client brand teams and senior management.
  • Meet regularly with senior clients to assess partnership status and resolve issues.
  • Manage the execution and delivery of outputs for a portfolio of brands by securing necessary resources.
  • Approve forecasting, revenue phasing, and tracking for a portfolio of brands.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Train and coach the Account team and Client Services on operations, processes, and finance.
  • Drive continuous improvement of agency processes and policies and manage their impact on team performance.
  • Provide leadership by anticipating opportunities and roadblocks to optimize team performance.
  • Act as a role model and coach to account directors and other direct reports.
  • Ensure projects are running smoothly by meeting with account directors and their teams.
  • Facilitate the cross-fertilization of best practices within teams and the Client Services group.
  • Provide guidance in identifying team priorities and gaps.
  • Participate in employee recruitment, performance management, and terminations.
  • Develop new business opportunities within the current client base and with potential prospects.
  • Network within the industry to build relationships.
  • Identify and enable initiatives to expand agency value with clients.
  • Recognize and activate opportunities to expand agency value with present clients.
  • Monitor project and program performance, acting as a change manager to optimize processes.
  • Manage processes through internal teams, clients, and suppliers.
  • Ensure client mandates are successfully carried out.
  • Provide clear and timely information to internal resources involved in projects.
  • Ensure clear, open, and respectful communication between directors and associates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant discipline
  • 10 to 15 years of pharma agency experience
  • 5 years of experience as an account director, including management of major accounts
  • Experience in building and managing teams, including coaching and mentoring
  • Proficiency and understanding of operations, including the agency process
  • Excellent knowledge of communication and marketing industry trends
  • Strong strategic ability
