About the Role
The Dental Hygienist will deliver a wide variety of dental services by performing preventive and therapeutic treatment procedures and by instructing individuals in oral self-care techniques. Works under the supervision of a licensed dentist.
Responsibilities
- Perform scaling and planing of exposed root surfaces for a complete prophylaxis.
- Apply topical agents for a complete dental prophylaxis.
- Remove excess cement from tooth surfaces.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene.
- Place and expose X-ray films.
- Apply topical anticariogenic agents, including fluoride.
- Apply topical anesthetic agents.
- Polish teeth, including existing restorations.
- Take medical history and record vital signs.
- Chart caries and periodontal conditions to aid dentist diagnosis.
- Apply pit and fissure sealants.
- Apply desensitizing agents to teeth.
- Comply with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as required under the supervision of a licensed dentist.
Requirements
- High school diploma
- Completion of an American Dental Association accredited dental hygiene program.
Work Type
