About the Role
Leverage data collected by the College to generate meaningful insights that support operational excellence, regulatory effectiveness, and strategic decision-making. Conduct descriptive, exploratory, diagnostic, and predictive analyses, identify trends and emerging issues, and communicate findings through clear reports, visualizations, and presentations to diverse audiences.
Responsibilities
- Work with departments to identify operational and strategic issues related to extracting value from their data
- Identify and define departmental analysis and research needs
- Contribute to metadata documentation within enterprise and non-enterprise systems
- Analyze small and large datasets to provide descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analyses using univariate and multivariate techniques with potential to develop and present results via reports and slide decks
- Conduct appropriate statistical analyses to explore strengths of associations, identify predictions and find trends with the data
- Summarize findings when reviewing publicly accessible organizational documentation such as annual reports, online stats or internal analyses
- Review and summarize analytical results into reports, presentations and narratives/stories using data visualizations (e.g. charts, graphs, infographics)
- Liaise with external system partners (including government and researchers) to identify common research needs that may lead to insight into our data and process and may generate new forms of knowledge to share with the wider oral health community
- Conduct data quality analyses to verify the accuracy and reliability of data extracted from Enterprise systems
- Utilize project management and agile principles when overseeing and supporting projects
Requirements
- Undergraduate or associate degree in a related field or a combination of education and relevant experience; master’s and PhD with thesis/dissertation emphasis is an asset
- Demonstrated educational experience in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, economics, sociology, cognition, engineering, neuroscience, psychology, health sciences and data science
- Proven experience with hypothesis testing, inferential statistics, predictive modelling within a non-academic organization
- Three- to five- years of understanding and coding experience with statistical programming languages or those with statistical and data frame packages for the purpose of statistics, data cleaning and report generation; examples include statistical analysis, database manipulation and report generations such as R, Python, SAS, Stata, SPSS, etc.
- Basic coding experience with Microsoft SQL Server (or other programs using SQL) to join and refine tables for future analytics
- Proficiency with MS 365
- Strong ability to convey complex problems to a wide range of stakeholders and knowledge levels
- Experience presenting findings to department or within the organization; experience presenting at conferences an asset
- Flexible, adaptable and a demonstrated commitment to learning new skills, software and knowledge domains
- Proven organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to meet deadlines
- Experience with gathering requirements from external stakeholders related to data request lifecycle including concepts related to intake communication and analysis, requirements gathering, request analysis, de-identification, report generation and secured data transfer)
- Experience researching health information, health data or health policy concepts through environmental scans, literature searches and website navigation are assets
- Experience in the healthcare sector as it relates to health data organizations, health facilities or research units an asset
- Excellent French language proficiency is an asset
