About the Role

As a Security Engineering Specialist, you will lead and manage projects within LifeLabs’ Cybersecurity team, providing expertise in Engineering best practices. You will offer operational direction and strategic guidance on new security services, technologies, and technical solutions to secure LifeLabs Applications & infrastructure, collaborating to implement secure solutions for cloud and on-premises environments.

Responsibilities

  • Configure Cyber Security and IT tools, including email alerts, reports, and automation for SOC operations.
  • Perform regular health checks on Cyber Security and IT tools, compiling and reporting on findings.
  • Lead the technical low-level design for new projects and technologies in collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • Act as a Cyber Security subject matter expert during major IT and Cyber Security incidents.
  • Coach and mentor Security operations engineers and SOC analysts on analyzing and resolving cyber security threats.
  • Maintain existing and create new security processes and standards, including RACI matrices.
  • Create and maintain network security designs and segmentation implementations.
  • Participate in ARB/SRB activities.
  • Facilitate the creation and updating of technical security standards for IAM, cloud, and SaaS services.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for security issues related to MFA, IAM, PAM, cloud, and infrastructure applications.
  • Deliver cloud security guidance and design within multiple projects using reputable Cloud Service Providers (CSP).
  • Lead initiatives for securing Lab devices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define privacy and security requirements for projects.
  • Provide threat intelligence, staying updated on industry trends, emerging technology, and threats.
  • Support security compliance by identifying and responding to gaps in regulatory requirements.
  • Act as an ambassador for engineering best practices and champion continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of direct experience in an information security role, with significant security engineering experience.
  • Minimum 7 years of direct experience in an information security role or an equivalent combination of education and experience with experience in the health care industry.
  • Knowledge of cloud delivery, security, and deployment models for IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Knowledge of cloud security standards (i.e. NIST, CIS, ISO 27001, CSA STAR).
  • Experience with Security Architecture best practices and solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience in several of the following CSPs: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Expert level experience with network security reviews and system architecture designs.
  • Technical knowledge in next-gen firewalls, distributed denial of service mitigation (DDoS), intrusion detection/prevention systems, network segregation, and security information and event management (SIEM).
  • Strong knowledge and experience in cloud security, network security and segmentation, application security, end-point security, email security, DDoS mitigation, and mobile device security.

Salary/Compensations

  • $96,255- $122,727 CAD annually
