About the Role
The Learning Experience – Bushwick is hiring Assistant Teachers to support early childhood classrooms and provide consistency through afternoon and closing hours. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and prefer a later morning start, working alongside Lead Teachers to ensure a safe and engaging experience for children.
Responsibilities
- Support Lead Teachers with daily classroom routines and learning activities
- Provide classroom and ratio coverage where needed
- Work with children across different early childhood age groups
- Engage children in play, art, music, sensory activities, and hands-on learning
- Assist with meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, outdoor play, and transitions
- Support afternoon routines and create a welcoming experience for families at pick-up
- Help with end-of-day classroom organization and closing procedures
- Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment
- Follow applicable New York City childcare licensing requirements
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Previous daycare, preschool, childcare, or early childhood experience preferred
- Comfortable providing support across different classrooms
- Reliable and consistently available for the 10:00 AM–6:30 PM closing schedule
- Patient, energetic, flexible, and team-oriented
- Must meet applicable New York City childcare licensing requirements
