About the Role

Lead the hydraulic design and technical review of stormwater and drainage infrastructure across major projects, focusing on practical, buildable, and technically robust outcomes.

Responsibilities

Lead the hydraulic assessment and design of stormwater and drainage infrastructure for major transport, defence, and energy projects.
Provide technical leadership in the design of pit and pipe drainage networks, open channel systems, culverts, detention and treatment infrastructure, major/minor drainage systems, and flood conveyance infrastructure.
Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, including interpretation of results and integration into design outcomes.
Review and approve technical calculations, design models, drawings, reports, and specifications.
Advise project teams and clients on flood risk, drainage strategy, network performance, design criteria, and infrastructure resilience.
Support delivery from planning and concept design through to detailed design and construction support.
Act as a senior technical reviewer and mentor to developing engineers across the team.
Support client engagement, work winning, and proposal development in the Perth market.
Contribute to the growth and maturity of the local drainage and water resources capability.

Requirements

15+ years of relevant post-graduate experience.
Demonstrated experience in the planning, hydraulic assessment, and design of stormwater and drainage networks.
Strong capability in stormwater network hydraulics, including the performance of both underground and surface drainage systems.
Experience delivering major infrastructure projects within a consulting or multidisciplinary engineering environment.
Ability to provide technical leadership, design review, and mentoring across a team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including confidence in engaging with clients and key stakeholders.
Sound commercial awareness and the ability to contribute to successful project delivery outcomes.
Experience across major road corridors, rail, Defence, aviation, renewables, or other major infrastructure sectors.
Familiarity with relevant design standards, policies, and guidance, including ARR 2019 and relevant state or authority drainage criteria.
Proficiency with relevant software used in drainage and hydraulic design, such as 12d, Drains, TUFLOW, HEC-RAS, MUSIC, RORB, or similar tools.
Experience in technical governance, independent design review, and project assurance.
Existing client relationships and market presence within Western Australia.
Experience supporting the growth of a technical team or discipline capability.
