About the Role
The Analyst, Investments will report to the Principal, Investments and will play an active role in evaluating real estate investment and development opportunities across BGO’s Canadian platform. The role will provide exposure to a range of transactions and investment strategies, with responsibilities including financial and market analysis, evaluating investment opportunities, and preparing key internal and client materials, including Confidential Investment Memorandums. Working closely with members of the Investments team, as well as BGO’s portfolio management and operating teams, the Analyst will have the opportunity to contribute to transactions throughout the investment process and develop a broad understanding of institutional real estate investing.
Responsibilities
- Embrace and proactively support BGO’s Culture Code.
- Prepare financial analysis, cash flows, proformas, market reports and investor memoranda for various acquisitions, sales, and development proposals.
- Support due diligence activities, including coordinating technical consultants, alongside members of the Investments team.
- Analyze various property scenarios and opportunities, including acquisition structures, development options, lease transactions, financing alternatives and disposition strategies.
- Interpret market and economic research and co-ordinate integration with analysis and preparation of investment memos.
- Assist with various BGO strategic growth initiatives.
- Update Canadian investment transaction database and pipeline report.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree in real estate, commerce, finance, economics, math, engineering, or a related field.
- A master’s degree or professional designation (CFA, MBA, CA, AACI) is considered an asset.
- 2–3 years of relevant industry experience, such as real estate investments, investment banking, appraisal, or brokerage.
- Strong analytical and financial skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams and maintain appropriate confidentiality.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently, taking initiative, and adapting to changing priorities.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word and PowerPoint, with 2+ years of experience using ARGUS Enterprise.
- Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset.
